MANILA, Philippines–“Mr. President, help us. Please help us,” begged the wife of Police Inspector Ryan Pabalinas in front of President Benigno Aquino III himself and the families the 44 elite policemen who were killed during a “misencounter” in Mamasapano, Maguindanao.
Pabalinas was among the 44 Special Action Force commandos who died in their operation to subdue Malaysian terrorist Zulkifli Bin Hir or Commander Marwan, who is considered the Osama Bin Laden of Southeast Asia.
His wife, Erica, spoke in behalf of bereaved family members as part of the necrological services in Camp Bagong Diwa on Friday for the fallen heroes.
“To our President, we seek for your help,” Erica said, pleading justice for her husband and colleagues who perished in a Maguindanao misencounter with Muslim rebels.
She also asked the public “not to put in their minds” that the SAF troopers pursued the operation for the $6-million reward for Marwan’s arrest.
“For the grieving wives, let’s be strong for our children because behind every brave SAF trooper is a strong wife, behind every brave SAF trooper is a strong wife!” Erica rallied the families.
Aquino gave his eulogy afterwards.
