2 suspected bombers killed in North Cotabato explosion

MANILA, Philippines—Two suspected bombers were killed in an explosion in North Cotabato early Tuesday evening, the military said.

The explosion was heard near Jovini Solo Convenient Store along Manuel L. Quezon Street, BarangayPoblacion in Pikit town at 6:11 p.m., initial reports from the Army’s 6th Infantry Division spokesperson Captain Jo-ann Petinglay said.

Two people aboard a motorcycle were killed on the spot, Petinglay said, adding the two were believed to be carrying the explosives.

Last week, another explosion rocked Pikit town at a transmission tower of the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines. The blast caused power outage for a few hours in Maguindanao, Cotabato City and parts of North Cotabato.
