BULACAN, Philippines—An engineer of the Meycauayan City government in Bulacan province was shot and wounded by a lone gunman in Barangay Calvario in that city Tuesday morning, police said.

Senior Supt. Ferdinand Divina, Bulacan provincial police director, said Rey Rivera, the city’s assistant engineer, was attacked at 9:30 a.m. while he was driving his car on his way to work.

The gunman escaped aboard a motorcycle driven by another man.

Rivera was taken to the Nazarenus Hospital in Meycauayan where doctors declared him to be in stable condition, police said.
