The northeast monsoon blowing over Luzon is responsible for the cold, which usually peaks in January and February.

The coldest temperature ever recorded in Metro Manila was at 14. 9 degrees Celsius on March 1, 1963.

For Tuesday, the tail-end of a cold front will continue to affect Eastern Visayas, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration or Pagasa.

“Eastern Visayas and Caraga region will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms,” Pagasa said in its 5 a.m. bulletin.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated light rain. The rest of Visayas and of Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
