Town cop chief fired after grenade blast
DIGOS CITY, Philippines—The town police chief of Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur has been relieved of her post following Thursday’s grenade explosion inside the police station that killed a retired police officer and wounded four policemen.
In an order relieving Senior Insp. Grace de Castro of her duties as police chief of Sta. Cruz, Southern Mindanao police director Chief Supt. Wendy Rosario also ordered the entire police force to undergo training on handling dangerous situations.
Rosario also ordered an investigation into the blast, noting that the arresting officers did not thoroughly frisk the suspect before he was detained.
Senior Supt. Michael John Dubria, Davao del Sur police director, said the entire police force of Sta. Cruz will undergo a five-day training on crisis management. To prevent a void in the police service there, he said they will be temporary replaced by personnel from the Provincial Public Safety Group, led by Supt. Nemesio de Quia Jr.
