Jeepney fares rolled back to P7 in Western Visayas

MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has ordered the slashing of 50 centavos in the minimum jeepney fare in Western Visayas bringing it down to P7.

LTFRB Chair Winston Ginez told Radyo Inquirer 990AM on Thursday that the LTFRB approved the rollback after finding enough basis for the new minimum fare.

Ginez said the resolution on the rollback would be released on Thursday or Friday and would take effect immediately.

Western Visayas covers the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras and Negros Occidental.

Earlier, the LTFRB all its regional offices to conduct public hearings to assess the effects of the recent series of oil price reductions on the minimum fares, Ginez said.

The rollback in Western Visayas follows two earlier fare reductions in central Visayas on January 13 and northern Mindanao on January 20.
