MANILA, Philippines–A magnitude 5.2 earthquake jolted Davao Occidental on Wednesday afternoon, with aftershocks expected, state volcanologists said.
The tectonic quake was recorded 29 kilometers northeast of Sarangani at 1:20 p.m., the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The tremor had a depth of 49 kilometers and was felt in the following areas:
Intensity IV – General Santos City; Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental
Intensity III – Davao City; Digos City, Davao del Sur; Alabel and Kiamba, Sarangani; Tagum, Davao del Norte
Intensity II – Kidapawan City
No damage was expected from the quake.
Earlier Wednesday, a magnitude 5.5 quake was also recorded in Sultan Kudarat.
