MANILA, Philippines — The low pressure area (LPA), that was formerly tropical storm “Amang” (international name: “Mekkhala”), is fast dissipating and will no longer affect the country, the state weather bureau said Tuesday.
“This weather system will not affect any part of the country and is expected to dissipate in 12 hours or less,” said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) in its 10:30 a.m. advisory.
Earlier, the Pagasa said the LPA that remained of Amang would be bringing rain to the Cagayan Valley and the Cordilleras.
The LPA was last observed 305 kilometers east southeast of Tuguegarao City in Cagayan.
Amang dumped rain on the country over the weekend during the visit of Pope Francis in Tacloban City and his concluding Mass at the Luneta Park.
