MANILA, Philippines – The military’s unilateral month-long ceasefire with the Communist Party of the Philippines’ New People’s Army will end on Tuesday.

“The full range of military operations will be back,” Armed Forces spokesperson Colonel Restituto Padilla said on Monday.

The AFP declared a unilateral ceasefire from Dec. 19 to Jan. 20 for the holidays and the Pope Francis’ visit.

At the same time, the CPP will also end its ceasefire for Pope Francis’ visit.

They earlier declared a ceasefire on staggered dates for the holidays and Pope’s visit: Dec. 24 to 26; Dec. 31 to 1 and Jan. 15 to 19.

“We will continue to enforce law enforcement operations and then go after criminals and then implement our target objective for the year in line with Bayanihan,” Padilla said.
