MANILA, Philippines—Tropical Storm “Amang,” which drenched the five-day visit of Pope Francis to the Philippines, has weakened further after crossing the landmass of the Bicol region, the state weather bureau said Sunday.
In its 5 p.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Amang has maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour and gusts of 80 kph.
Pagasa’s previous advisory said Amang was packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kph and gusts of 90 kph.
Amang was last spotted at 4 p.m. 35 km north-northwest of Daet, Camarines Norte, and travelling at a pace of 15 kph at a north-northwest path.
Camarines Norte, northern Quezon including Polillo Island and Aurora are under public storm warning Signal No. 2.
Areas under public storm warning Signal No. 1 are Camarines Sur, rest of Quezon, Marinduque, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Quirino and Isabela.
