Confusion at Luneta due to ‘lack of leadership’

/ 07:14 AM January 18, 2015

Papal visit pilgrims decried the “lack of leadership” Sunday morning at the Luneta which created confusion among hundreds of thousands wishing to attend the Mass of Pope Francis.

“Walang nagmamando. Walang nagsasabi kung ano ang dapat gawin ng mga tao,” said Sophie Bibe, 43, who was at the Luneta at 3 a.m. (There is no one in charge. No one is telling people what to do.)

Bibe said majority of the people gathered at the Valencia Circle side of the park were calm but some were becoming restive.

“Kahit yung mga server (sa Mass) ay hindi alam ang pupuntahan. Hindi sila pinapapasok sa mga gate,” added Bibe, who was with a friend. (Even the (Mass) servers were confused. They are not being allowed through the gates.)

She feared a stampede might occur.
