A lawmaker wants the Home Development Mutual Fund (HDMF), popularly known as Pag-Ibig Fund, and troubled housing developer Globe Asiatique (GA) to settle their legal dispute out of court in order to spare legitimate buyers in the latter’s Pampanga housing project from further grief.
Pampanga Representative Carmelo Lazatin said the legal battle between Pag-Ibig and Globe Asiatique has left homeowners in the Xevera projects worried about their titles and the maintenance of their properties.
Lazatin said the two parties should come up with a “win-win” solution to their differences because the case could drag on for years and leave innocent Xevera buyers in limbo.
Pag-Ibig has filed a criminal complaint before the Department of Justice against Globe Asiatique owner Delfin Lee, who has countered by filing a civil case for specific performance and damages in Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 58.
Lazatin suggested that Pag-Ibig allow Globe Asiatique to perform its obligations under its agreement in order to facilitate the updating of the borrowers’ accounts and replace the buyers who had abandoned their housing units.
