MANILA, Philippines—A soldier from Nueva Ecija who opted to quit the service early so he could focus on taking care of his family has become a multimillionaire after winning the P160-million jackpot prize 6/49 draw last in the Jan. 11.
According to Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) acting chair and general manager Jose Ferdinand Rojas II, the 50-year-old retired soldier was the lone winner who took home the P160,083,688 prize after randomly picking the winning combination 06-13-19-31-34-38.

The father of one, who as a soldier had his life always on the line, told Rojas that he applied for early retirement from the service so he could give his undivided attention to his family.
Rojas said the winner who claimed his prize at the PCSO’s head office in Mandaluyong City on Tuesday had been playing the lotto for the past 20 years and paid P40 for his winning ticket.
He added that the winner expressed plans to use his winnings to invest in a business and buy a house and lot for his family. Also, he would share his newfound wealth with his siblings and his parent.
Rojas said that the 6/49 jackpot prize soared to P160 million after no lucky bettor guessed the right combination in the past 27 draws in two months.
