NDRRMC identifies impassable roads

MANILA, Philippines – Several roads have been rendered impassable as Typhoon “Pedring” (International name: Nesat) battered Luzon, the National Risk Reduction and Management Council said on Tuesday.

In Metro Manila, 10 roads in Pasay, Marikina, Makati City and Manila were declared impassable, including Roxas Boulevard, to all types of vehicles due to floods, the NDRRMC said, quoting consolidated reports.

Meanwhile, in Makati City, the Department of Environmental Services were sent to clear the areas where trees had fallen, the NDRRMC said.

A landslide in Cordillera, the Dantay section of the Baguio-Bontc, Matoytoy, Talubin section of Mountain Province, a road slip in Tabuk-Banawa and Malalao roads in Kalinga, and road cuts in the Shilan-Beckel road have rendered there areas dangerous to all tyes of vehicles, the NDRRMC said.

Meanwhile, water overflowed onto the bridge along the Cabagan-Sta. Maria Road in Isabela, the NDRRMC said.

In Central Luzon, four roads were impassable: Daang Maharlika due to fallen trees, Tablong-Gabaldon due to landslide, Nueva Ecija-Aurora due to floods, and Rizal-Pantabangan roads also due to fallen trees, it said.

Meanwhile, in Aurora, the Baler-Casiguran and Aurora-Nueva Ecija roads fallen trees and floods due to the overflow of Catabangan River prevented vehicles from passing through, respectively, the NDRRMC said.

In Catanduanes in Region V (Bicol), the Catanduane Circumferential Road was impassable due to landslide, it also said.

In an earlier report of the NDRRMC, the regional counterparts of the Department of Public Works and Highways were said to have pre-positioned its clearing teams for possible landslides and road cuts.
