MANILA, Philippines—Some 1.9 million customers of power distributor Manila Electric Co. have been without electricity for hours on Tuesday as typhoon Pedring continued to bring winds that damaged the utility’s posts and other facilities, Meralco officials said.
The power distributor said it has been working double time to restore power to at least the majority of the affected customers before the end of Tuesday.
As of 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, Meralco also reported that 31 percent, or 216, of the 698 circuits were still without power.
