MANILA, Philippines—Rescue teams have been dispatched to some flood-hit sections of the Camanava (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela) area Tuesday afternoon as Typhoon Pedring (international name: Nesat) dumped rains over Metro Manila, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said.
Floods have prompted rescue teams to evacuate those affected by rising floodwaters in Dampalit and Ramon Magsaysay in Malabon, said MMDA Flood Control’s Bobot Balbaboco. He said that seawater had merged with the fresh water coming from the Tulyahan River.
Teams were also sent to clear debris from Roxas Boulevard, Balbaboco said.
He said that flooding in the areas of SM Mall of Asia and Ospital ng Maynila were caused by the sea waves slamming against the sea wall.
