MANILA, Philippiness—The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is hiring personnel for its newly created “PUV Inspection Unit,” which will help the board check the operations of some 400,000 public utility vehicles (PUVs) nationwide, from apprehending franchise violators, inspecting transport terminals, to verifying the age of vehicles subject to phaseout.
The LTFRB earlier this week said it would be recruiting a total of 145 PUV inspectors, with the application period starting Jan. 5 to 10. Forty inspectors will be hired for the LTFRB central office in Quezon City, 20 for the National Capital Region, 7 for Region I (office located in San Fernando, La Union province), 2 for Region II (Tuguegarao, Cagayan), 15 for Region III (San Fernando, Pampanga), 15 for Region IV (Lipa City, Batangas), 6 for Region V (Legaspi City, Albay), 10 for Region VI (Iloilo City), 6 for Region VII (Cebu City), 6 for Region VIII (Tacloban City), 2 for Region IX (Zamboanga City), 8 for Region X (Cagayan de Oro City), 6 for Region XI (Davao City) and 2 for Region XII (Cotabato City).
In a statement, the LTFRB said the new unit would mainly implement the board’s PUV modernization and road safety programs. Applicants must have at least two years of college education, at least a year’s job experience related to land transportation and good moral character.—Jaymee T. Gamil
