Province creates anti-drug office

THE Cebu Provincial Board (PB)  approved the creation of an anti-drug abuse commission with an initial budget of P5 million.

An  ordinance creating the Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Commission  was approved on third and final reading.

The body will  headed by Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia  and assist her in ensuring that mayors perform their  duties  in enforcing  anti-drug laws.

Other members of the commission are the PB  committee chairmen on anti-drug and substance abuse, youth and sports development, and  barangay affairs and rural development.

The board  will also include directors of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas, Cebu Provincial Police Office, Departments of Interior and Local Government, Education,  Social Welfare and Development and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology .
