Higher water level in Marikina River seen due to strong rains—Pagasa
MANILA, Philippines – The water level in Marikina River is expected to go higher as “stronger rains are expected in the afternoon up to the next few days,” officials of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Tuesday.
Dr. Graciano Yumul, undersecretary of the Department of Science and Technology (DoST), said Pagasa recorded 20 millimeters of rain that fell over the Marikina watershed and was expected to raise the water level of the Marikina River to spilling level within the next two hours.
Early warnings have been issued to the local government of Marikina, as well as to other government agencies.
Pagasa weather division chief, Robert Sawi said, “Stronger rains are expected in the afternoon up to the next few days.”
