MANILA, Philippines – It will be a wet and cold Christmas on Thursday as the state weather bureau expects the cold front to continue affecting some parts of the country.

In its 24-hour weather forecast issued 5 p.m., the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the following areas will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms:

Pagasa attributed the cold Christmas Day on the diffused tail-end of a cold front affecting Central and Southern Luzon, as well as the northeast monsoon affecting northern Luzon.

The rest of the country will see partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly over the eastern section, Pagasa said.

The weather bureau said moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over the whole archipelago with moderate to rough seas.

Metro Manila and nearby areas experienced a drenched Christmas Eve on Wednesday also due to the cold front.

Pagasa on Wednesday issued a yellow rainfall warning in Metro Manila and nearby provinces Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, Quezon, Bulacan, and Bataan. But this was later lifted at 3 p.m.

A yellow rainfall alert means 7.5-15 mm amount of rain in an hour which is expected to go on in the next two hours. Flooding is also expected in low-lying area.
