MANILA, Philippines—Former President and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo went to the Makati Medical Center (MMC) Thursday afternoon to undergo a digital mammogram.

Arroyo left the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC), where she is under hospital detention for plunder, around noon and arrived at the Makati hospital at 1 p.m. in a wheelchair and wearing a neck brace.

After more than two hours, Arroyo left the MMC.

Details of the exam were not revealed to the media.

In a two-page ruling issued on December 12, the Sandiganbayan granted the request of Arroyo’s camp for her to undergo a digital mammogram.

Arroyo’s camp said the former President needs the check-up as she is at “high risk” of developing breast cancer because her mother had the ailment.

Arroyo had her last mammogram in 2012.

Arroyo was charged with plunder for allegedly misusing intelligence funds of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office amounting to P366 million during her term.
