Marine intelligence officer caught sniffing shabu

MANILA, Philippines — Combined elements of the navy and the police arrested a Marine intelligence officer and two others who were caught using illegal drugs inside a Zamboanga City transient house.

Sergeant Alfrenz Abadin, 32, a member of the Philippine Marine Corps assigned in Western Mindanao, ‎and his two friends were caught sniffing shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) during a pot session inside Rose’ Transient House on Valor Street on Monday.

Undersecretary Arturo Cacdac Jr., Philippine Drug enforcement Agency (PDEA) director general, said Thursday that Abadin was on a watch-list of drug personalities in Zamboanga City.

Arrested with the soldier were Nurfaina Dizon, 31, of Jolo,Sulu, and Omarcayam Idnon, 26, of Lower Calarian, Zamboanga City.

They were arrested at about 11:30 a.m. by PDEA Regional Office 9 agents and elements of the Intelligence Division of the Marine Battalion Landing Team 1.

Seized from the suspects were a piece of aluminum foil with shabu residue, a pipe tooter, three pairs of scissors, a plastic cellophane containing several transparent plastic sachets, two disposable lighters, a rolled aluminum foil, two cellophanes and four identification cards.

Abadin, Idnon and Dizon face charges of possession of dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia  under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
