In Ilocos Norte, try tricycle tours

PAGUDPUD, Ilocos Norte—As the rainy season approaches, travellers rushing to get most of the remaining dry days can visit popular spots in Ilocos Norte in just one day aboard a tricycle.

An adventure trip across the province’s tourist spots can be taken by hiring members of the Pagudpud Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (Pagtoda).

Ferdinand Ganno, a tricycle driver, said tricycles started to ferry tourists in 2000. For P1,200, a tricycle can take up to three passengers to a tour of 11 destinations in three towns.

The northern tour takes passengers to the Aqua Grande River Park, Patapat Viaduct, Paraiso ni Anton, Bantay Abot Cave, Dos Hermanas rock formation, the white sand beach of Blue Lagoon, Timmangtang rock formation and Kabigan Falls, all in this town.

For the southern tour, passengers visit windmills in Bangui town, and Cape Bojeador lighthouse and Kapupurawan rock formation, both in Burgos town.

The 350 members of Pagtoda are always ready and eager to take tourists to destinations that would complete their Ilocos Norte experience, Ganno said.

“Tourists usually come here from Laoag City. We have a queue near the public market,” he said.
