Cops tag woman in 2 swindling cases
MANILA, Philippines—The Quezon City police are looking into the possibility that the same woman was behind two separate swindling cases reported last week.
One of the victims was singer-actress Agot Isidro (Margarita Sandejas in real life) who lost nearly P3.4 million worth of cash and jewelry to a woman who called up her house on Saturday and convinced her house helper that her employer needed money because she had been in an accident.
Isidro’s maid, Mainelyn Omapas, had identified a woman whose picture she found in the police files as the person to whom she turned over Isidro’s valuables.
Earlier, the same woman was also tagged by the house helper of the other victim.
Senior Insp. Edilberto Nicanor, deputy chief of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, declined to identify the suspect to avoid jeopardizing ongoing pursuit operations.
