MANILA, Philippines―Vice President Jejomar Binay on Thursday said that the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) is negotiating with Senate Pro Tempore Ralph Recto and Senator Sergio “Serge” Osmeña III, both allied with the administration’s Liberal Party, as potential senatorial candidates for the 2016 polls.

“Pinag-uusapan pa (We’re still talking),” Binay told reporters during his visit in Angat town in Bulacan province on whether senators Recto and Osmeña will be included in UNA’s senatorial ticket.

Both Recto and Osmeña ran and won under the Liberal Party ticket in 2010. They are both members of the majority bloc in the 16th Congress.

Binay also revealed that Valenzuela representative Sherwin Gatchalian and Buhay Party-list representative Lito Atienza are sure senatorial candidates under UNA’s banner.

While Binay has floated possible senatorial candidates under his political party, he has yet to determine his running mate for the 2016 elections.
