Bong Revilla disappointed but undeterred by denied bail

MANILA, Philippines–“The fight is not yet over,” so said detained Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. after the Sandiganbayan junked on Tuesday his motion for bail on the plunder case filed against him over his alleged involvement in the pork barrel scam.

“Of course we’re very disappointed. It was not the outcome we were expecting especially when we consider the facts and the evidence,” Revilla said in a statement sent to reporters by his staff member.

“Ganunpaman, wala naman tayong magagawa kundi igalang ang pananaw ng hukuman, (Nevertheless, we have no choice but to respect the court’s opinion)” he said.

“Hindi pa tapos ang laban (The fight is not yet over). This is a setback but by no means determinative of our resolve to clear my name. Kung hindi pa ito ang panahon para mangibabaw ang katotohanan, darating din ang tamang panahon (If this is not the time for the truth to prevail, the right time will come),” Revilla added.

Revilla and two other senators —Juan Ponce-Enrile and Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada have been charged and detained at Camp Crame in Quezon City for allegedly funneling their pork barrel funds to bogus nongovernment organizations allegedly owned by Janet Lim-Napoles.

It was Napoles, who allegedly masterminded the scam and. She also faces plunder and graft charges while in detention at the Camp Bagong Diwa female ward.

The three senators have repeatedly denied the allegations against them.
