Mexican doctor gets 11 years after death caused by liposuction
MEXICO CITY — A judge in Mexico has sentenced a doctor to 11 years in prison for the death of a patient during a liposuction procedure.
The Mexico City judge convicted Dr. Ernesto Martinez Hernandez of homicide in the case.
Prosecutors said late Thursday that Martinez Hernandez was also ordered to pay damages of about $24,000 to the victim’s estate.
The woman went to a clinic in Mexico City’s gritty east side in May 2013 for the procedure. Complications resulted in her death.
