MANILA, Philippines–Tropical depression Queenie made landfall at 6 p.m. over Tandag, Surigao del Sur, the state weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration placed parts of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao under Signal No. 1.

The tropical depression moved 24 kilometers west and was expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Friday evening.
