MANILA, Philippines—A low-pressure area near Davao City is expected to bring light to moderate rains over Eastern Visayas and Caraga region in the next 24 hours, state-run Panahon TV said Tuesday.
The LPA, last spotted 960 kilometers east of Davao City, is forecast to cross Northern Mindanao and Visayas area then head toward Northern Palawan before the weekend.
The moderate to heavy rains are forecast by late Wednesday until Thursday.
If the LPA intensifies into a tropical depression, it will be locally named “Queenie.”
Manny Mendoza of Pagasa, however, said it was unlikely that the LPA will intensify. It is also expected to weaken should it hit land in the Visayas.
