Fiscal dismisses charges against NBI-7 investigator
THE Talisay City Prosecutors’ Office dismissed charges of malicious prosecution against personnel of the National Bureau of Investigation in Central Visayas (NBI-7).
Talisay City Assistant Prosecutor Jenelyn Forrosuelo said there was insufficient basis to indict NBI-7 Special Investigator Arnel Pura as well as investigation staff Xerxes Baladia; medico-legal officer Rene Cam, Cebu-based lawyer Mundlyn Misal-Martin and four other women.
Engr. Robert Yee filed charges of robbery, extortion, grave threats, and malicious prosecution against the NBI staff.
Yee, a former confidential agent of NBI-7, accused the respondents of prodding a student to demand P3 million from him in exchange for dropping rape charges against him.
In an affidavit, the student said she was “coerced and induced” by the respondents to extort money from Yee and sign an erroneous complaint for rape against the engineer.
However, the prosecutor said there was no evidence to pin down the respondents.
