Weekend reblocking works ahead in QC

MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Public Works and Highways has secured the approval of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to conduct road reblocking activities from 10 p.m. on Nov. 21 to 5 a.m. on Nov. 24 on the following major thoroughfares in Quezon City:

Fairview Avenue from Camaro Street to Peacock Street (third lane, southbound);

Mindanao Avenue from St. Charbel Street to Tandang Sora Ave. (second lane, southbound);

Commonwealth Avenue from Bicol Street to pedestrian overpass on Batasan Road (second lane, southbound);

Araneta Avenue from Quezon Avenue to Maria Clara Street (third lane, northbound );

Carlos P. Garcia Avenue from University Avenue to Maginhawa Street (third lane, northbound);

Quirino Highway from Camachile Street to Teachers’ Bliss (first lane, northbound);

Batasan Road from Civil Service Commission to Filinvest II (second lane, eastbound);

Congressional Avenue from Sinagtala Street to Mindanao Avenue (second lane, eastbound); and

Congressional Ave. Extension from Salinghali Street to Luzon Ave. (second lane, eastbound).

The MMDA earlier announced that road works would not be allowed three weeks before Christmas in anticipation of the heavy traffic buildup during the holidays.

The agency also plans to revive the so-called Christmas lanes or alternative routes for private motorists pending clarification with the DPWH on the delayed completion of several road projects in Metro Manila. Jerry E. Esplanada
