Marikina hosts Int’l River Summit
MANILA, Philippines—More than 600 representatives from national and local government agencies, private sector managers, policy and technology experts, academe, environmental advocates and students have signed up for the Second International River Summit on Nov 19 to 21 at Marikina Convention Center, Marikina City.
These “river stake holders” will hold plenary discussions and thematic breakout sessions where international and local experts in the field of river and environmental management will be sharing their expertise and best practices.
With the theme “Reviving Rivers, Rebuilding Civilization,” the summit serves as a platform for the revitalization of rivers in economic, social and cultural terms, and for identifying doable solutions for river-related problems.
“We invite everyone to join us in the summit. Rivers have played an important role in the birth of human civilization. It is just fitting that we give back to it by convening and working together in reviving, conserving, and living together with rivers in harmony,” Mayor Del De Guzman said in a statement on Tuesday.
