‘Pedring’ slows down, gains strength

MANILA, Philippines—Tropical Storm “Pedring” (international name: Nesat) slowed down and gained strength Monday morning, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

Pagasa said Pedring was spotted 260 kilometers east northeast of Virac, Catanduanes and was now moving northward across Luzon at a speed of 17 kilometers per hour from 28 kph recorded on Sunday night.

It was packing center winds of 110 kph and gusting up to 140 kph, Pagasa said.

Storm Signal No. 2 was raised in Catanduanes, Isabela, Aurora, Polilio Island, Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur.

Meanwhile, the provinces of Albay (including Burias island), Sorsogon, Quezon, Quirino, Ifugao, Nueva Vizacaya, Mt. Province, Kalinga and  Cagayan were on Signal No. 1.
