Mercado donates portion of ‘Hacienda Binay’ allegedly under his name

MANILA, Philippines — Heeding Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III’s call, former Makati City Vice Mayor Ernesto Mercado donated on Tuesday a portion of the so-called “Hacienda Binay” property in Rosario town, in Batangas province allegedly registered under his name.

Mercado submitted a deed of undertaking to Agrarian Secretary Virgilio De Los Reyes during the hearing of the Senate blue ribbon committee, saying that he was voluntarily donating the 42, 157 square meters of the property being linked to Vice President Jejomar Binay.

It was Pimentel who called on Mercado to just donate to the government the land under his name.
