The nonstock, nonprofit government research corporation Philippine Institute for Development Studies was established on Sept. 26, 1977. A policy-oriented research institution based in Makati City, it was created through Presidential Decree No. 1201 with the goal of coming up with a comprehensive research program that would help formulate national development plans and policies.—Schatzi Quodala, Inquirer Research
