Trader injured in Maguindanao grenade blast
BULUAN, Maguindanao, Philippines — A trader was injured when two men on a motorcycle lobbed two fragmentation grenades at his sawmill and lumberyard here before dawn Wednesday, police said.
Inspector Alonto Arobinto, Buluan police chief, said the assailants arrived outside Monzalim Salendab’s house in Barangay (village) Siling, where his store is also located, about 4 a.m., tossed the two explosives and then sped away.
One of the grenades immediately went off and the explosion caught Salendab, who was then preparing to open his sawmill and lumber store. The other grenade did not explode.
Arobinto said Salendab was rushed to a hospital in nearby Tacurong City.
He said the police believed the attack was triggered by personal grudge.
