MANILA, Philippines- The Philippine National Police (PNP) will comply with the request of Senator Grace Poe to provide her office with the details of the PNP’s ongoing acquisition of patrol jeeps amounting to P918 million.
Poe’s request came amid allegations that PNP “favored” some suppliers.
Poe, in a letter addressed to PNP Director General Alan Purisima on November 4, said her request was part of the Senate’s oversight function.
Speaking to reporters, Police Chief Superintendent Wilben Mayor, denied Friday that the PNP has favored particular suppliers in its ongoing acquisition of patrol jeeps.
“We are not favoring anyone,” Mayor said.
He said the PNP Directorate for Logistics is now preparing the details and necessary documents needed by Poe.
“The Directorate for Logistics is now preparing (necessary papers),” he said, saying the documents might be submitted next week once signed by Purisima.
The PNP is purchasing over 1000 patrol cars aside from the over 500 it already acquired early this 2014.
