MANILA, Philippines—Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chair Teofisto Guingona III assured the public Tuesday that belonging to the same political party with Senate president Franklin Drilon will not affect the Senate’s probe on the alleged overpriced Iloilo Convention Center (ICC).
Both are members of President Benigno Aquino III’s Liberal Party.
Guingona said in a radio interview that the investigation on the ICC, said to be Drilon’s pet project, will be conducted in a “fair and impartial” manner.
“I can give my assurance but the best assurance will be the performance during the hearings. You would see it for yourselves and the people can see it for themselves, whether it has been conducted in a fair and impartial manner,” Guingona said.
Guingona added that Drilon’s participation in the investigation will not pose any problems.
Drilon, however, has already said he would inhibit himself from the Blue Ribbon Committee probe even if he is a member of the said committee.
