Davao cop chief stays despite abuse raps
DAVAO CITY—Senior Superintendent Vicente Danao Jr. would not be removed from his post as city police director despite the filing of physical and verbal abuse complaints against him by his wife, the spokesperson of the Southern Mindanao Police Office said.
On Wednesday, Danao’s estranged wife, Susie, filed a 12-page complaint at the Department of Justice in which she accused the police chief of physically and verbally abusing her and their children from 2002 to 2013.
An administrative case against Danao was also filed at the regional police’s Internal Affairs Services.
On Sept. 1, Danao was suspended following the administrative complaint but was reinstated a month later.
But Supt. Antonio Rivera, Southern Mindanao police spokesperson, said on Thursday that this time, Danao would not be removed despite the filing of the formal charges against him at the DOJ.
He said Danao would continue with his duties and responsibilities as Davao City police chief.
