MANILA, Philippines–Three construction workers were hospitalized after being trapped in the smoke-filled basement of the Lopez Tower and Museum being built at the Rockwell Center, Makati City, where a four-hour fire broke out Monday afternoon.
The workers, identified as Rowel de la Paz, Eugene Delosinas and Ramon Waldy, sustained minor injuries and complained of breathing difficulties when rescued from the building.
The fire started around 2:15 p.m. and was declared out around 6 p.m. The fire caused heavy traffic in the area, which is under Barangay (village) Poblacion. The cause remained under investigation.–Maricar B. Brizuela
