MANILA, Philippines – Government soldiers clashed with Islamic rebels in Sultan Kudarat Thursday morning after the rebels harassed a civilian community.
Colonel Dickson Hermoso, 6th Infantry Division spokesman, said members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) harassed the people of Barangay (village) Bagumbayan, President Quirino Sultan Kudarat at 6:30 a.m. Thursday.
Lieutenant Colonel Markton Abo, 33rd Infantry Battalion commander, and his men repulsed the attack.
