Sigma Alphans mark 50 years

MANILA, Philippines–The UP Sigma Alpha Sorority Alumnae Association Inc. will mark its golden anniversary and sisterhood night on Oct. 24 at The Legend Villas on Pioneer Street, Mandaluyong City, it was announced by Andrea Domingo, association president.

With the theme, “Fifty Years of Salience in Action,” the affair is a joint effort of alumnae and resident sisters of UP Diliman and UP Los Baños. The occasion also marks the launch of a coffee table book chronicling the history of the sorority, the achievements of its alumnae, and the programs it has undertaken since its founding in 1964.

To receive the Outstanding Sigma Alphan Award are lawyer Rita Linda Ventura Jimeno of the UP Diliman chapter and Dr. Candida Bernabe Adalla of the UP Los Baños chapter.

Other prominent alumnae include Supreme Court Justice Teresita Leonardo-de Castro, Court of Tax Appeals Justice Amelia Cotangco Manalastas, Foreign Undersecretary Linglingay Fonacier Lacanlale, Ambassador Erlinda Fadera Basilio, former Pampanga Rep. Andrea Dizon Domingo, Lita Manalastas Watanabe, Dr. Remedios Calma Cruz, Rosalina de la Paz-Magat and writer Ligaya Tiamzon Rubin.
