Consumer group wants P1 rollback in jeepney minimum fare

MANILA, Philippines—A consumer group will file a petition Tuesday afternoon for a P1-fare rollback in the minimum fare for public utility jeepneys, which is currently at P8.50 in Metro Manila.
The National Center for Commuter Safety and Protection through its President Elvie Medina will file a formal petition before the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) this Tuesday afternoon.
Medina, in an interview with Radyo Inquirer 990AM, said the petition was based on the series of rollback in prices of diesel and other petroleum products.
She said the group also mentioned in their petition other grounds to grant a fare rollback but refused to disclose these until they have formally filed the petition.
