Aboitiz joins initiative to build pre-schools

In its promise to nurture the communities, AboitizLand Inc. joined a nationwide initiative to construct pre-school buildings in public schools.

AboitizLand, with the support of Aboitiz Foundation Inc., signed an agreement with the Aklat, Gabay, Aruga tungo sa Pag-angat at Pag-asa (Agapp) Foundation, the Department of Education and officials of recipient barangays, such as Mabolo in Cebu City, Gabi in Cordova town and San Isidro in Talisay City for the initiative.

AboitizLand is constructing classroom-buildings in Gabi Elementary School, San Isidro Elementary School and Mabolo Elementary School.

The building, designed to host the regular pre-school class, has around 128 sqm of usable space.

The Agapp initiative is trained towards supporting literacy development and providing basic early childhood care and development service for 5-year-olds.

Agapp is led by Pinky Aquino Abelleda, sister of President Benigno Aquino III. The foundation and its partners are planning to build 2,000 library-classrooms in six years.

Agapp also facilitates child- and family-focused interventions such as supplementary feeding, health education, extended day or child care support and micro-enterprise for parents.
