MANILA, Philippines — A three-year old girl has been raped by her stepfather in Galimuyod town in Ilocos Sur, police said.
Police Senior Inspector Napoleon Eleccion Jr. of the Galimuyod police told INQUIRER.net that the victim, a nursery pupil, complained of pain in her vagina.
Eleccion said the girl’s mother asked her daughter and found out that she had been repeatedly raped by her stepfather.
“Base on her statement, she cannot recall when the incident happened but tagged her step father as the man responsible behind the incident,” the police official said.
He said the girl underwent medical examination and found lacerations in her vagina.
A television report, meanwhile, said doctors found out that the girl had been infected with gonorrhea.
The victim was molested while her mother was away at work, it said.
Eleccion said the mother of the victim was not interested in filing charges against the suspect. However, local officials, concerned agencies and relatives of the victim are now pursuing the case.
“A rape case in relation to R.A 7610 against the suspect is now being redied by our agency for preliminary investigation before the prosecutor’s ofice,” he said.
According to him, the victim is undergoing counseling with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
