Red rainfall alert raised in Western Visayas

MANILA, Philippines–The weather bureau on Friday morning warned of torrential rains in Western Visayas as it raised red rainfall alert.

Under the red rainfall alert were Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Iloilo and Guimaras, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

“Serious flooding is expected in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous areas,” it said.

The intertropical convergence zone in Visayas and Mindanao has been causing the rains, Pagasa explained.
