Rains forecast on Tuesday

MANILA, Philippines—With the intertropical convergence zone affecting Mindanao, light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms are expected Tuesday in Palawan, Western Visayas and Mindanao, the weather bureau said.

Also, the provinces of Cagayan, Apayao and Ilocos Norte will also have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) while Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Typhoon “Vongfong,” which is already out of the Philippine area of responsibility, was spotted 1,700 kilometers east of Northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 150 kph as of 4 a.m.

Vongfong is moving west northwest at 25 kph.
