Boom-Boom now in tip-top shape

BOHOL’S Rey “Boom-boom” Bautista, ALA Boxing Promotion’s prized boxer, is now in tip-top shape after undergoing a rigid one-month training in preparation for his fight against bitter rival Mexican Heriberto “Cuate” Ruiz on June 11 as part of the Pinoy Pride 6: Grudge Rematch at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

As of now, trainors Edmund Villamor and Pio Solon are focusing on Boom-boom’s skills and defense to defeat Ruiz’s dirty tricks inside the ring in the scheduled rematch.

Ruiz drew first blood after Bautista bowed to him during the Ricky Hatton-Paulie Malignaggi undercard in Las Vegas last 2008.

Bautista, who has fully recovered from his left wrist injury, has went through 70 rounds of sparring sessions in a span of a month. His team also reviewed Ruiz’s fight tapes to study more the Mexican’s capacity and ability inside the ring.
