AFTER A SO-SO showing in the Liga Pilipinas last year, the Mandaue-Cebu Landmasters/RDAK Transport is looking forward towards redemption as they compete in the Liga Pilipinas V 2nd leg, which kicks off tomorrow at the Cebu Coliseum.
The brand-new squad, which has no remnants of the team from last year, was officially presented to Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes yesterday at the Mandaue City Hall. They were joined by team owner Joe Soberano along with head coach Jun Tan.
Leading the squad are five players formerly of the M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu Niños. These are former Liga MVP Marlon Basco, former NCAA finals MVP Mark Magsumbol, former pro Ariel Capus, Mario Basco and Hafer Mondragon. The rest of the team is composed of Axel Doruelo, Floyd Dedicatoria, Harold Sta. Maria, Jun Gabica, Harlow Villanil, Ryan Alicaway, Leomar Losentes and Alfred Gerilla.
Cortes was impressed with the composition of the squad and was looking forward to a fruitful showing in the tournament.
“Dako kaayo ug chance ang team. We’ve got good players. Hilantanon sad ang mga kontra nato ani,” said the Mandaue City mayor.
