Cagayan lawmaker’s aide shot dead
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines — A close aide of Cagayan Representative Randolph Ting was shot and killed by a lone gunman while he was driving home on his scooter in Tuguegarao City on Thursday morning, police said.
Senior Superintendent Ronaldo Olay, Cagayan provincial police director, said Georgy Tong, chief of staff of Ting’s congressional office in Tuguegarao City and the lawmaker’s political officer, died from a bullet wound to the head.
Ting, citing police sources, said Tong had just dropped off his son at the Tuguegarao City Science High School and was on his way home when the gunman attacked him on Bassig Street in Barangay (village) Ugac Sur at 7 a.m.
